Best Protein Supplement and Getting Shredded
Best protein supplement for getting shredded is one that has minimum carbs and fats.
In my previous article I discussed: should the best protein supplement have carbs in it? The answer is NO and the article can be found here: Best Protein Supplement and Getting shredded.
In this article my question is:
Should the best protein supplement have fat in it?
The short answer is this: NO.
Because fats in a protein supplement are not necessary, because fats in a protein supplement might be harmfull AND because fat in a protein supplement impairs amino acid absorbtion.
What?
You heard me. Read some books on food combining and digestion and you will quickly learn that the digestion of fat and the digestion of protein does not happen simoultaneously. Not only that, but the digestion of fat takes a front row seat to the digestion of protein. So if you want those vital amino acids form that expensive protein supplement to get to your muscles as fast as possible you better find a protein supplement that doesn’t have fat.
The process goes like this: only AFTER you have digested the fat, does the digestion of protein actually start. So you are actually delaying the arrival of those amino acids to those damaged muscle cells that a good workout should produce.
And this brings me to my next point, which is that your digestive power is limited. Your body can only digest so much in a given day. Digestion is one of the most energy intensive processes your body undertakes. Why waste this limited daily capacity, on empty calories from that deliver no benefit. If you really want to eat more, eat after the protein supplement has had a chance to digest. A good rule of thumb is 1 hour after you drank your protein powder.
And another thing, food combining. Did you know that the more complex your meal is the harder it is to digest it? This basically means that if you choose a protein supplement that has both carbs and fat and protein it will be a lot harder to digest that if it simply just had protein, or just carbs and protein. So you are doing yourself a disfavor in this respect too.
My last point, maximizing amino acid uptake. If you want to maximize amino acid uptake you should reduce the complexity of your post workout meal and just have it have the minimum amount of carbs and fat.
And let me ask you this:
Why do you need fat in your protein supplement?
Fat in a protein supplement is simply a mark of a bad protein supplement — just review the laundry list of reasons above.
Not to mention the fact that fat, when it is removed from the food from which it was a part of, rancidizes very quickly. Rancid fat is extremely negative for your health. The best protein supplement should use the best cold processing methods to eliminate most of the fat from your protein supplement and thus protect your health. I don’t even want to get into what different fats can do to your body — in a negative sense.

Best Protein Supplement and Fat
So, the bottom line is this:
The best protein supplement should not contain any fat or carbs. Unless you want to look like these guys. But since you are reading an article on getting shredded I assume you don’t.
I will give some leeway however, the best protein supplement as far as low to none fat or carbs is more expensive. If price is a concern you can use a protein supplement which has some carbs, preferably fructose over glucose, BUT this fructose over glucose thing doesn’t apply to everybody. Read the introductory post on best protein supplement and blood type. It is my wholly unique contribution to this field and I am very proud of it. It will change how you view the best protein supplement debate and anything related to the best protein forever.
All the best,
